Meet at the Lake Wenatchee South Snow-Park area at 9am, where we will begin the ski trip. Parking at the trail requires a Snow Park Pass with Groomed trails sticker
From the South Lake Wenatchee Sno-park, we will plan to ski on the groomed trails around the lake and forest and on into the Kahler golf course for a total of approximately 12km. Trail is groomed with both skate lanes and single tracks. Classic cross country skis are recommended for this trip.
Maps of the sno park locations and trails can be found here: Leavenworth / Chelan | Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission
Part of the trail is rated "easy" but some sections are rated "more difficult". There will be some hills that require herringbone and snowplow skills to navigate. This is not suitable for beginning cross-country skiers.
These trails will typically be groomed Thursday through Monday.
Snow conditions may necessitate alternate ski routes.
Additional Notes: Due to the traveling distance, the ski trip is best done as an overnight.
Travel: Driving distance from Seattle is 110 miles (a little over 2 hrs) traveling over Stevens Pass (Hwy 2), or 148 miles (about 2.5 hrs) traveling over Snoqualmie Pass (I-90) and Blewett Pass (Hwy 97). It will be necessary to either have 4 wheel drive with good traction tires and/or carry chains during the winter time. Unfortunately carpooling with those outside your household is not recommended at this time.
Lodging: There are many lodging options available, both in Plain (http://www.beavervalleylodge.com ) and in nearby Leavenworth http://leavenworth.org/lodging/
This activity will follow the Mountaineers guidelines for COVID-19 that apply on the date of this trip.
All participants will be required to have a face covering ready to pull up at the trailhead, and will be asked to be familiar with and follow the Mountaineers Covid-19 guidelines for trip.
For the group's safety, every participant is asked to commit to conservative covid behavior prior to the trip
