BY REGISTERING THIS LEADER CONSIDERS YOU MADE A COMMITMENT TO THE TRIP. It's only good form to cancel in the event of an injury, illness or an emergency. Even if there are people on the wait list it's often difficult to move them up close to the trip date. THANK YOU!

We will explore some of the Dog Sled Trails and the P2C Palouse to Cascades (formerly call the John Wayne) Trail east to the Whittier Tunnel and part of the snow covered roads towards Meany Lodge and Stampede Pass from Crystal Springs Snopark, exit 62 off I-90. We may be able to ski to Meany Lodge itself depending on snow and grooming conditions and what activities are scheduled there. We will probably not ski any of the Erling Stordahl trails this trip.

Any portion of theP2C Trail we will take that’s to the east of the Stampede Pass road is joint use and may have or may not been groomed for snowmobiles the weekend before. We will have to share with snowmobilers on this section. The Dog Sled Trails may also have been groomed for sleds a few days before, but classic tracks will not have been cut. These are officially off limits to snowmobiles. The route is undulating with some quite steep but short hills in places. We will ski a loop of about 10-13 miles and we may cover some sections of trail twice. The elevation gain will be s approximately 500 ft.

We have lunch sometime during our ski. We will find the best location we can out on the trail or at Meany Lodge is we visit it.

Please note: This is an approximately, 10-13 mile N2 level 500 ft. elevation gain round trip, so you will need to have good herringbone climbing skills and wedge including wedge turns for the descents. Depending on conditions, we will travel at a moderate speed of about 2.5 MPH. This would not be a good trip for slow skiers, for those who rely on well groomed trails with classic tracks cut or for skate skiers.

The conditions we will find on the day are often difficult to predict in advance. The trip is not suitable for first-time Nordic skiers even with Alpine experience. Please contact the leader before registering if you have any doubt about your ability and stamina to manage this trip.

Classic no-wax track skis or Nordic backcountry skis are recommended. Please consult the leader if you wish to use other types of ski.

You may carpool from our meeting place at the North Bend Safeway, meeting at 8:30 am or meet us at the Crystal Springs Snopark an hour later.

All vehicles taken to the trailhead will require WA Snopark Passes. Passes need to be purchased in advance: contact the leader for more information. Taking everyone who signs up will be dependent on enough drivers with suitable vehicles for winter snow.

Full trip details will be emailed to everyone who signs up soon after registration closes on March 5. In the interim, please contact Chris Ensor, Trip Leader with any questions: ctrails@comcast.net
