BY REGISTERING THIS LEADER CONSIDERS YOU MADE A COMMITMENT TO THE TRIP. It's only good form to cancel in the event of an injury, illness or an emergency. Even if there are people on the wait list it's often difficult to move them up close to the trip date. THANK YOU!

We will explore some of the Erling Stordahl and Dog Sled trails that are accessed from the Crystal Springs Snopark, exit 62 off I-90.

The Erling Stordahl trails will probably have been groomed for track and skate skiing the previous weekend. The portion of the John Wayne Trail we will take that’s to the east of the Stampede Pass road is joint use and may have been ploughed for snowmobiles. The Dog sled trails will probably have been groomed for sleds the weekend before but no tracks will have been cut. The route is mainly flat but there will be some hills on part of the Erling Stordahl system and on the dog sled trails. We will ski a loop. The elevation gain will be s approximately 500 ft.

We have lunch sometime during our ski. There will be no shelter so we will find the best location we can.

Please note: This is an approximately, 9 mile N2 level round trip, so you will need to have good herringbone climbing skills and wedge including wedge turns for the way down. The conditions we will find on the day are often difficult to predict in advance. Classic no-wax track skis or Nordic backcountry skis are recommended. Please consult the leader if you wish to use other types of ski.

If you are uncertain of your ability and stamina or the equipment you have to manage this type of trip please consult the leader.

The trip is not suitable for first-time Nordic skiers even with Alpine experience.

You may carpool from our meeting place at the North Bend Safeway, meeting at 8:45 am or meet us at the Crystal Springs Snopark an hour later.

All vehicles taken to the trailhead will require WA Snopark Passes. Passes need to be purchased in advance: contact the leader for more information. Taking everyone who signs up will be dependent on enough drivers with suitable vehicles for winter snow.
