This is day 1 of a 2 day cross country ski weekend (Saturday-Sunday) in the Lake Chelan area. Leaders will be driving down from the Methow Valley area where additional cross country ski trips are offered. (January 8-10).

Trips offered will be easy (green) to moderate (blue) depending on the skill level of the participants registering and will range from 10-12 miles beginning from either the upper or lower trailhead.

Linda Shewey will also be leading cross country ski trips here during this time and we will coordinate our rosters to determine the beast trails and participants fit for each day.

These trips are not suitable for first time Nordic skiers: even those with Alpine ski experience. Participants should be able to navigate hills that will require wedge brake and turn to descend and herringbone to ascend some sections. A good standard of fitness and stamina is required, Classic waxless skies preferred.

Lake Chelan is roughly 2300 miles and 4-5 hours from Seattle. You have the option to carpool or provide your own transportation and lodging in the Lakew Chelan area. Echo Ridge is about 10 miles from downtown Lake Chelan. Staying overnight in Lake Chelan is recommended if you plan to ski for more than one day.

You will have to purchase a $15.00 permit to park at the Echo Ridge trailhead, permits are available at the trailhead.

See Linda Shewey's trip listing for lodging options.
