Meet at the Chiwawa Snow-Park area at 9:00 am, where we will begin the ski trip. Parking at the trail requires a Snow Park Pass with Groomed trails sticker
Leader Permission required as priority will be given to those registering for multiple days.
From the Sno-Park, we will ski on the The See and Ski trail (8km). This is a groomed loop with both skate lanes and single tracks. The trail passes through the forest and along the Wenatchee River.
New this year, the 3.5k “Squirrel Run” is groomed as well. This route leaves the Sno-park from the east edge of the parking area, gains less than 100’ of elevation through open pine forest before gradually descending to a road crossing where it connects with the See & Ski trail, making for an excellent loop option. These trails will typically be groomed 2-3 days / week, Friday through Monday.
These trails have some hills that require herringbone and snowplow skills to navigate and are not suitable for beginning cross country skiers
Snow conditions may necessitate alternate ski routes.
Additional Notes: Due to the traveling distance, the ski trip is best done as an overnight.
Travel: Driving distance from Seattle is 110 miles (a little over 2 hrs) traveling over Stevens Pass (Hwy 2), or 148 miles (about 2.5 hrs) traveling over Snoqualmie Pass (I-90) and Blewett Pass (Hwy 97). It will be necessary to either have 4-wheel drive with good traction tires and/or carry chains during the wintertime. Carpooling is also an option and more information will be shared as we get closer to the trip time.
Lodging: Leader has a cabin in Plain that participants are welcome to stay in. The cabin has 4 bedrooms, limited to 3 additional participants/couples. There is a cozy fireplace, covered hot tub, tv and wifi. Cost is 50$ per person/per night plus (includes cleaning fee) payable directly to leader. We will coordinate meals. Please email me if you wish to stay here with your bed preference and number of nights/ guests. There are many other lodging options available as well, both in Plain (http://www.beavervalleylodge.com ) and in nearby Leavenworth http://leavenworth.org/lodging/
