Meeting Place/Time: Plain Hardware store at 9:30am. We can carpool from there to the Chiwawa Snow-Park area, where we will begin the ski trip. Parking at the trail requires a Snow Park Pass with Groomed trails sticker
The See and Ski trail is an 8km groomed loop with both skate lanes and single tracks. The trail passes through the forest and along the Wenatchee River.
This trail is rated "easy" but does have some hills that require herringbone and snowplow skills to navigate. This is not suitable for beginning cross country skiers
This is a shorter ski trip for Sunday of the Leavenworth/Plain Ski weekend
Due to the traveling distance, the ski trip is best done as a weekend. You may register for one trip on Saturday and/or one trip on Sunday. In addition, the town of Leavenworth is close by, with a lot of interesting shops and a sledding hill so there is the option to ski one day and relax or explore the other day, as you wish.
Travel: Driving distance from Seattle is 110 miles (a little over 2 hrs) traveling over Stevens Pass (Hwy 2), or 148 miles (about 2.5 hrs) traveling over Snoqualmie Pass (I-90) and Blewett Pass (Hwy 97). It will be necessary to either have 4 wheel drive with good traction tires and/or carry chains during the winter time. Carpooling is also an option and more information will be shared as we get closer to the trip time.
Lodging: Leader has a cabin in Plain that participants are welcome to stay in. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/26659835?location=Plain%2C%20WA%2C%20United%20States&s=5Hfbkewr for picture purposes only)
The cabin has 4 bedrooms and can sleep up to 10 people in 5 separate beds. There is a cozy fireplace, covered hot tub, tv and wifi. Cost is $40 per person/per night (available Fri/Sat night)plus a share in the $150 cleaning fee payable directly to leader. Please email me if you wish to stay here with your bed preference and number of nights/ guests. There are many other lodging options available as well, both in Plain (http://www.beavervalleylodge.com ) and in nearby Leavenworth http://leavenworth.org/lodging/
If you come up on Friday or Saturday, those staying the weekend will have the option to have dinner in the cabin and the evening to play games, watch tv and soak in the hot tub.
On Sunday, a hearty pancake breakfast will be served in the morning before departing, or participating in another (shorter) ski trip.
