XC Ski Skills Practice. This is an opportunity to focus on skill practice in a supportive environment as a refresher or just for fun!
If you are an experienced XC Skier and would like to help newer skiers practice, feel free to sign up as an assistant leader.
This trip is not suitable as a first-time Nordic skiers, even if you have Alpine ski experience. Nordic Classic no-wax skis are recommended.
Participants should have experience with gentle hills (green and blue trails) including some ability to steer and stop. Since the emphasis is on skills practice, we may ski some features repeatedly while honing our skills.
We'll ski groomed trails accessible from Cabin Creek Snopark. Trails selected will vary depending on conditions and group skills/interest. We'll start with some drills. Our emphasis will be on practicing classic cross country ski skills such as diagonal stride, weight transfer, snowplow/wedge position and herringbone. We'll plan to ski for 2 to 3 hours or until dark.
Don't forget to dress appropriately for the weather and the pace, and to bring the 10 Essentials.
