Cabin Creek SnoPark (groomed sticker and permit required for all drivers) @ 9:30. We can optionally arrange carpools from the lowlands if interested.
Come clean the rust off your ski legs. Consider starting wall sits and lunges now, and getting your skis hot waxed and ready for the season.
At the time I am posting this trip (11/9), we do not have explicit info on the grooming schedule at Cabin Creek, but I expect it to include Fridays, and 12/1 is the start of the SnoPark season. This trip may well be outright canceled depending on how grooming information shakes out once published and how the snowpack is growing in the next few weeks. Additionally, an active weather pattern leading to “chains required” at the Pass will also cancel our event.
But, fingers crossed! Ski tips not crossed! My goal is to ski the lower loops at Cabin Creek once around, not including Ozbaldy, and then to head up Amabilis to the Y, and return to the bottom. My pace is not fast, but this trip will not be educational, so only experienced skiers from last year should join. I ski on classic wider metal edged skis, nothing fast, just solid. Classic skiers preferred over skaters, as I do not imagine the quality of grooming and snow will yet be at a level that skaters tend to prefer. This route includes hill climbs and descents where snow plow skills are desired. I also like to pause for snacks or water/ hot thermos beverage along the way, as well as at all intersections, so speedy skiers may find themselves a bit bored. Come share in the love of winter and skiing!
