Change of destination from Nason Ridge to Amabilis due to spring-like conditions and higher snow levels.
Plan of day will be to head up the Y on Amabilis, and then take the right there, heading on ungroomed road on the more eastern side of the slope. Once getting towards the top, we can ski a bit on old roads thee, before taking the “cut through” in the trees to intersect the groomed route to the top. If conditions are not terrible, we will consider taking the spur that heads to near the true summit of Amabilis and then booting it up to the top. From there, it is down, down, down, first to the Y, then back to the lower road. At the bottom, if we still have some oats in our tanks, we can ski some of the loops there. Or head into our cars to find a bite or a beverage somewhere.
Leader will be using metal edged touring skis because I enjoy the control on the descent, but am not fast on the ascent. No skate skiers due to the ungroomed nature of our route.
