This trip is ONLY for those that have never had experience with trad leading and setting pro before this year
Each year that I am able, I offer to lead a pre Squamish field trip for those who have never handled pro or led trad before. Getting through the rock field trips and becoming certified to lead basic climbs is a real challenge. You’ll need to do a lot of practice in a short amount of time. The trip gets you a head start on Field Trip One in Squamish. We leave Friday morning and meet in Squamish about noon, then head out to the crags where the field trip will be held and practice setting protection and building anchors, possibly setting up a top rope for mock lead practice. This is the same skills you will learn on Saturday morning, but with the Friday practice, you can get up to speed, build some confidence, and be on your way to get your true lead in over the weekend.
