This is a mentored conditioning lead for Matt Negron. Please direct inquiries to him at lillybugaug2<at>gmail<dot>com.
Olympia Basic Alpine Climbing students are required to complete a climbing conditioner by March 22 (Field Trip 3). Students must carry a pack that weighs either 20 percent of their body weight or 35 pounds, whichever is heavier, and reach the summit in less than 3 hours for this trip to fulfill that requirement.
Check your pack weight ahead of time. Do not estimate. Bring extra water in bottles, jugs, bladders and/or heavy objects to supplement if necessary. I strongly recommend bringing water as most of your weight so that you can pour it out at the summit should you choose to (weight can be lighter for the hike down). We will weigh our packs in the parking lot.
Bring microspikes, trekking poles, and plenty of warm layers and gloves, particularly for the hike down.
TBD in an email sent to roster the week of February 23. Vehicles parked at the trailhead will need to display a Discover Pass.
