7:00 AM at Tacoma; Carpooling locations to be determined when sign up closes based on geography of group
A day to picnic in the snow - somewhere between Longmire and Paradise. The exact location will depend on snow level, when the road to Paradise opens, etc. We'll snowshoe as a group with LOTS of stops, for comfort, for photos, equipment adjustment, admiring the vistas, etc. If you haven't snowshoed or hiked with me before, get in touch with me so we can chat (via email or phone) about our mutual expectations for the day. Some of mine are that the journey is more important than the destination and, if we are going to make the effort to organize our gear, drive to the trailhead and put on all our winter layers we should spend as much time in the endeavor as possible. Unless we're in a blizzard we will take a lunch break on the trail - everyone must have the Ten Essentials and extra clothing layers and something to sit on for the lunch stop. Also, you'll really enjoy having a thermos of your favorite hot beverage or soup along. An important reminder: Optional stop on the way home for pie or a burger, drivers' choice..
