8:00 AM at N. Bend Starbucks
Snow shoe trip to Box Creek at Kachess Lake. Easy, relaxed pace and a level family-type hike. We’ll meet in front of Starbucks under the clock tower in the North Bend Safeway parking lot at 8:00 am. Take I-90 exit 31, turn North to N. Bend. Take a right at the first light and pass McDonalds. Safeway is on your left. We’ll then carpool from North Bend. We’ll take I-5 exit 62 and drive as far as possible toward Kachess Lake. From there we’ll snowshoe to Box Creek at Lake Kachess, about 3 miles, level terrain (est. 4-6 mi round trip, leisurely pace). Bring a lunch, plenty of water, and of course layered winter clothing that you can peel off and stuff into your daypack. Bring a sit pad if you wish. Snow shoes required and gators recommended. If you need to borrow my extra pair of snow shoes, let me know. We may decide to get coffee and a snack at the Snoqualmie Ski lodge or restaurant on the way back. If we do, attendance is optional. We expect to return to North Bend around 2:30 – 3:00 pm. Contact me with any questions. Gary Zink, 253-631-4004.
