Beginner Sea Kayak - Lake Sammamish

Student paddle for Seattle Basic Sea Kayak students in fulfillment of the course requirements.

  • Mileage: 8.0 nm

Meeting time is 8:00 am at Tibbett's Beach at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah. 

Remember to bring along some lunch (if it's a cool day something warm might be nice).  We will eat at a small park that has one portable toilet.   We will practice self rescue and assisted rescues at the start of the paddle.  Bring along a jacket for lunch, store it in a dry bag or a plastic bag.  We should be off the water by 2:00.

Required Equipment

These three essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips.  All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.

  1. U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
  2. Paddle
  3. Appropriate clothing for the conditions encountered seasonally
