Meet at 6:45pm at the WSDOT rest area/Red Coffee at Snoqualmie Pass-- from eastbound I-90, take exit 52, pass by the Summit West ski area, and the rest area is on your left, roughly across the street from Dru Bru brewery. Map:  https://goo.gl/maps/LbMoeXNUcap

We will then proceed to Summit East (aka "Hyak", where the Nordic Center is located) to park there and start our adventure. No parking pass is required.

The plan is to hike up to the top of Mount Hyak and enjoy the full moon - the Snow Moon! Although the moon will be shining, please do still bring illumination such as headlamps or flashlights as a backup. We will stay on the edges of the ski trails: Creek Run to Milwaukee Run to the summit of Mount Hyak.

  • Please review the Summit at Snoqualmie's ski area uphill travel policy before this trip: https://summitatsnoqualmie.com/uphill-travel
  • Trail map available here; or search online for the Summit at Snoqualmie's Summit East ski trail map
  • Avalanche danger should not be a problem for this outing since it's within the ski area boundaries.
  • Please note that this outing may be cancelled due to the following circumstances: if the ski area announces a problem or changes its current uphill travel policy; if the weather forecast is really poor and/or low visibility is predicted; or if I-90 driving conditions are questionable or I-90 is closed due to weather, accidents, avalanche control, etc.
