I've not been there recently, so am not sure how far we'll be able to drive up the forest service road vs. walk, but expect we'll likely start walking not far from the freeway exit. If snow level is relatively low, it's POSSIBLE we could drive higher up *if* we have NW Forest Passes to allow parking beyond the intersection of FR 9031 and FR 9030 (about a mile from the freeway exit). We’ll certainly hike some on forest service road initially, and then continue on to Talapus Lake, and optionally continue to Olallie lake depending on conditions and how we feel. This is an “E+” trip --- participants are required to have taken the “Snowshoe Basic” course, or either “Alpine Scrambling” or “Basic Climbing”.
