Trip

Basic Snowshoe - Mazama Ridge (Mount Rainier)

Mazama Ridge Basic Snowshoe.

  • Moderate, M1 Intremediate Ski
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 6.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,000 ft

We will meet at the Martin Way park & ride at 6:45 with a definitive departure of 7 am.

Priority will be given to 2019 Olympia Basic Snowshoe Students. Please contact (hogstag@gmail.com) trip leader for permission to register.

Trip summary: We will travel down Paradise Valley Road to 4th crossing trail. From there, we will make our way up Mazama Ridge, cross down the ridge to High lakes Trail, travel along High lakes Trail, cross the valley road again, and come up the lower lakes trail back to the parking lot. This snowshoe can be strenuous in parts, but everyone should be able to make it. Our backup trip will be Rampart ridge.

A careful evaluation of avalanche and weather conditions will be finalized the night before the trip. I expect this trip to go as early March conditions are typically favorable.
