8:00 AM at Brickyard P&R
Snowshoe through the forest to a lovely lake for lunch. One of my favorite easy+ snowshoe trips.
Meet at 8:00 AM at Brickyard P&R (exit 22 off I-405)
Equipment needed:
10 essentials for winter
- non cotton clothes (use layers so you can adjust for your temperature when we are going uphill)
- gaiters
- waterproof boots
- snowshoes
- raingear
- mittens or gloves (2 pair)
- warm jacket to wear during lunch stop
- 2 liters water: I like to have a hot drink in a thermos
- warm hat
- lots of snacks
- lunch
- day pack to put your stuff in.
- map
- compass
- poles (optional)
- camera (optional)
- something to sit on during lunch (you'll get cold and wet sitting directly in snow)
Pack your things in waterproof bags inside your pack. You can use fancy bags or ziplock plastic or garbage bags, whatever you have. I like to line the inside of my pack with a trash compacter bag because it's tougher and does not tear easily.
- Drivers will need to carry chains
- Feel free to call or email me if you have questions about your gear. (see http://www.mountaineers.org/seattle/snowshoe/equipment.html) for more info
