We'll consolidate carpools here, for the drive up to the pass.

We're all anxious for some snow time, so let's head out on the day after Christmas and see what we can find!  If we're lucky there might be some new snow to tromp in.  But I would suggest packing microspikes (if you have them) in case the trail is hard-packed and thin.

We'll travel up Commonwealth Basin, with a goal to reach the area at the base of Red Mountain.  If folks are interested (and so-equipped) we can do some4 avalanche beacon practice while we're there.

I've set a late start time so we can sleep in after a busy holiday with friends and family.  Make double-sure that you pack your headlamp with fresh batteries, as we may well be returning to the cars after dark.
