Dan Leskosky will be in charge as the Mentored Leader, with Rob Busack along to co-lead.
This climb is primarily for students of the Seattle "Following to Alpine Rock" course.
- If you're a student in the Seattle "Following Alpine Rock" course, you're welcome to send leader-permission-requests and sign up starting on July 21st.
- If you're a student or grad from some other Basic course, you're welcome to email Dan for leader-permission starting on August 1st.
Either way, in your leader permission request, please give me a sense of your fitness by mentioning 2 or 3 specific trips you've done in the past year (for example, "Recently did X hiking trail, which has Y amount of elevation gain, in Z amount of hours & minutes up.") And tell me about at least one time you've carried an ice axe & crampons for snow travel. (For a late-August Ingalls climb, there may or may not be sections of snow to cross during the last bit of the approach, between Ingalls Lake and the base of the 1st climbing pitch at 7300', so the exact gear-list is TBD until the date gets closer and we've heard some reports about how much snow remains. Until then, let's assume ice axe and/or crampons may be needed.) On this climb, pack-weight will be in the ballpark of 35lbs, and we'll move at a brisk pace gaining 1000' per hour.
In your leader permission request please also specify if you are comfortable lead belaying with an assisted braking device (Mega Jul, Giga Jul, or GriGri). You do not need to own one for this climb but your rope lead may provide one as it improves our margin of safety.
It'll be necessary to drive out the night before, sleep in a car, pitch a tent in a parking lot, or do some other form of expedient camping.
