Basic Glacier Climb - Whitman Crest/Fryingpan Glacier

Single day climb. Highly dependent on weather, snow conditions, and other force majeure events. Requests to join prior to the activity opening date will be ignored.

The objectives for the climb  are:
  • Have fun and enjoy each other's company.
  • Make for the summit, conditions permitting.
  • Return to the trailhead safe and sound.
On this trip we expect to move continuously as a group at a moderately steady pace with at least one 5 minute rest break every hour/1,000 feet of elevation gain until we reach our destination where we'll have a 15-20 minute rest break for lunch, before returning to the trailhead.  Leader will provide access to a trip planning document for the confirmed roster and those on the waitlist for group gear assignments.  A "Welcome Climbers" confirming email will be issued to the roster no less than 72 hours before the activity with finalized details.

Drive southeast from Enumclaw on SR 410 to White River Entrance of Mount Rainier National Park, entrance fee required. Register for climb here at the ranger station. About 3 mi from White River Entrance, park just beyond the Fryingpan Creek Bridge at 3,900 ft.  Final travel and carpooling details TBD.
