Basic Glacier Climb - Sloan Peak/Corkscrew Route

This trip will be a one-day climb, and we will pick the better weather day a week before the trip. Priority goes to Seattle Climbing community until May 26th, then open to all after that. Please read leader notes before requesting leader permission.

This will be a very strenuous one day trip. Sloan Trip Report for your reading: https://www.mountaineers.org/activities/trip-reports/basic-glacier-climb-sloan-peak-corkscrew-route-via-bedal-creek

You must be prepared and fit for a long day with a lot of elevation gain and loss. We won't go crazy fast, but we will hike and climb efficiently. When requesting leader permission, please share with me your level of recent conditioning and your experience traveling on steep snow and exposed rock scrambling terrain

Registration priority is as follows:

  1. 5/19 - 5/26 - Priority to Seattle Climbing community.
  2. 5/26 onward - I will add those who request leader permission and are well suited for the trip (conditioning, experience, expectations/goals, etc)

Rope leads, please reach out anytime starting May 1st.

To be arranged by the climbing team.

We will camp at the TH or somewhere nearby on Friday evening.

The forest road to the TH (Bedal Creek Approach) is recommended for high clearance only. A section of the road (200 yards or so) is fairly steep and loose. It can take an AWD car (eg. Honda CRV, Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4/Highlander etc.) a few attempts to go through this section, with passengers leaving the car and all four wheels spinning.

For the reasons above, carpool will be arranged.
