This will be a technical, strenuous basic climb with 8,100 ft gain. Please remember this is a pre-requisite to our Rainier climb in July. Students must complete this climb successfully in order to summit Rainier.
Students must have completed course requirements and passed all evaluations ahead of the trip.
We will be holding a conditioner climb early May to simulate this trip by going up and down Mt Si twice! Highly encourage all to attend, or else find a time to do it yourself (and share your GPX route :) https://www.mountaineers.org/locations-lodges/seattle-branch/committees/seattle-climbing-committee/course-templates/alpine-climbing-courses/basic-alpine-climbing-course/activities/seattle-basic-alpine-climbing-conditioner-mount-si-old-trail-6
NOTE: We will be crossing a bergschrund on the route and navigating crevasses thru out. Please remember to continue your conditioning regiment as discussed -- 3 days / week ~1hr+ zone 2 cardio with weighted pack + 1 day conditioning style hike like mt si ~2 hrs to the top.
Don't forget your helmets, picket, ice axe, crampons, and mountaineering boots! And most importantly bring your best energy, best attitude, and best A game. We are psyched to join you and lead you all successfully up the 🏔️ 😄
Shared via email with the final roster closer to the climb.
