Trail to Tieton Pass is a gentle grade and lots of huckleberries. From Tieton Pass it is an easy 1.5-2 miles south on the PCT, then 1.5 mile of easy side trip to lower McCall Basin for camping (more huckleberries!). From the camp area we will follow the short/steep trail to the upper basin, one of the more spectacular spots in Washington.
My goals for this trip are:
1. Be safe.
2. Explore the upper part of McCall basin.
3. Learn something.
My expectations for trip participants are:
1. Follow Leave No Trace principles.
2. Be respectful of all participants.
3. Be ok with some modest off-trail travel in McCall basin and possibly fording the creek to explore the upper basin.
4. Have the necessary physical conditioning for this trip. Trail to lower McCall basin is mellow and not a lot of gain. Trail to the upper basin has a short, steep section but is easy to follow and no exposure.
5. Have the necessary gear and clothing to be safe and comfortable.
0900 at Scatter Creek TH at the end of North Fork Tieton road. Trailhead is located east of White Pass and south of US 12.
