Sahale Peak/South Slope

Trip

Basic Alpine Climb - Sahale Peak/South Slope

Climb Sahale, but since Cascade River Road is currently closed 3 miles from the TH, we may have to be flexible, e.g., one day or two days. If the road is closed, it adds 6 miles to the trip; a one-day climb would be strenuous.

TBD

We will not know until just before the trip whether the Cascade River Road will be open. I would like to do a day trip, but it may be better to do two days.  In any case, we will proceed by car as far as possible on the 22nd. For a day trip, we will start at 3AM or 4AM, depending on where we park.

Also, we will try to summit from the West Ridge, rather than going to the east of the summit. The West Ridge is easy, but getting off the glacier onto the West Ridge may be challenging. If it does not work, we will do the normal completion.

If the road is closed at mile 20, I may change the climb to Sahale Quien Sabe Glacier ascent with South slope descent. This is a Basic Glacier climb.

Priority will be for Everett Basic students who need this climb to graduate. Then students from other branches who need this climb.
