8:00 AM at Preston Park and Ride
Mt Thompson is a 6554 foot spire approximately 8 miles north of Snoqualmie Pass along the Pacific Crest Trail. As far as scrambles go, consider this an S5/T5. There is a lot of exposure on this route and a 12 foot section of low class five. If you are not comfortable with exposure you won't like this trip. You will need your harness and prussik and should be comfortable using it on a rope. Please also bring ice ax, (snow lingers this year) and helmet. If you're interested please let me know what T5 scrambles you've completed and what group gear you can bring. If you haven't completed a T5 scramble I would not recommend this trip. We'll meet at the Preston Park and Ride (exit 22 on I-90) to consolidate vehicles. Then drive to the PCT for the 7+ miles to Ridge Lake and make camp. Sunday scramble Thompson with an early start, return to camp and hike out. This trip has limit of 6 people (including me).
