Kitsap climb students and climbers known to us have 2nd priority. We'll start a wait list after May 9.

Thurs evening, June 3- Mon. night, June 7

Thurs. Day 1 - To Portland or Salem. Couch surfing with friends of the leaders is available on request. This departure schedule avoids Seattle, Tacoma, JBLM, Olympia, Portland traffic Friday morning, which allows us to climb to base camp Friday by dark.

 Day 2 – Friday.
5a.m.-ish departure from SW Portland. Mt. Shasta is 7-9hrs with food/gas stops. Reach Mt. Shasta City by 2pm, get permits, blue bags. Get to Clear Creek TH (6600ft) around 5pm. Hike 2.5mi/2000ft to the mountain spring at 8400-8600ft. Set up camp by dark.

Day 3 – Saturday. Leisurely hike to bivy spots at 11,000ft, potentially on steep snow. Make camp, melt water, study route, acclimatization hike to 12,000, etc...

Day 4 – Sunday. Summit/down. TH camping. More detail on timeline, conditions, etc... TBA.

Day 5 – Monday. Possible breakfast in Mt. Shasta City or Ashland, Oregon. Home. Expect traffic.

    COVID/misc. stuff:

High clearance cars to get to the TH. We also want people to split the driving for safety, so we’re encouraging carpools. *BUT* we encourage COVID vaccination if you want to carpool outside your pod - or share tents, etc...

Pandemic surges in Mt. Shasta City could cancel the trip. We discourage more than gas stops in any OR or CA counties that are surging.
