Alpental uppermost parking lot, off I-90 Exit 52, 7 am. The location is subject to change due to avalanche conditions, weather.  Northwest Forest Pass or equivalent.

This is a snow skills practice day, and is a prerequisite for our winter overnight trip at Mount St. Helens on April 15-16.

We will be practicing essential snow travel skills, including:

  • walking in crampons
  • walking in balance
  • traveling as a rope team
  • self belay
  • ice axe arrest
  • crevasse rescue demonstration
