Meet at the location to be determined near Packwood Friday evening Sept 1 or Saturday Morning.  The plan is to leave a car at the endpoint, PCT Southbound trailhead on Hwy 12.

Goat Rocks Wilderness Sampler.  Saturday-Sunday September 2-3, 2017

Overnight backpack from Snowgrass Flats Trailhead to Highway 12 at White Pass.  Opportunity to return home for Labor Day on Sept. 4.  Point to point distance is 25 miles, moderate pace, 3900 feet gain and 4200 feet loss.  Approximately eleven miles on the Pacific Crest Trail.

A possible option if the group  agrees in advance:  use an additional day Sept 4 to complete the route, thus doing the 25-mile route as a three-day trip.  Alternate campsites would be used.

This is a B3 Backpack but is open to all Mountaineers with leader permission.  The trip is technically rated Strenuous. However, considering it is later in the season, good trails, and maximum one day travel of 13 miles, many might consider it Moderate to Strenuous.

The plan is to meet near Southbound PCT Trailhead on Highway 12 at White Pass on Friday night or early Saturday, leave the car(s), and drive to start of the hike at Snowgrass Flats TH.  Plan to camp near Lutz Lake, 5000 feet, after passing through the gorgeous Snowgrass Flats area, passing Old Snowy Peak, and descending the famous Knife Edge photo op.
