We'll meet at the Phelps Creek Trailhead at 9:00AM on Saturday morning. We'll need to arrange and do a quick car-shuttle - taking at least one other vehicle to the exit point, Trinity, which is about 3 miles from Phelps Creek Trailhead. The car shuttle will take us 45 minutes to complete.

One of the classic North Cascades backpacking destinations, for a good reason; around every corner there are spectacular views!   Lyman Lakes Loop - From Phelps Creek to Spider Meadows, Lyman Lakes, and then exiting through the Buck Creek Drainage. Trip duration is 4 days, 3 nights, or 5 days, 4 nights.  We'll start off in the Phelps Creek drainage with great views of Mt Maude and Seven-Fingered Jack, and hike to the beautiful Spider Meadows, then up and over Spider Gap, via the Spider Glacier to the remote Lyman Lakes, where we'll see views of the Lyman Glacier  and its calving into the lake.  After spending the night by the lakes, we'll head up to Cloudy Pass and Suiattle Pass. Breathtaking views are non-stop on this loop - including the remote and hidden volcanic Glacier Peak.  The route back takes us past Fortress Mountain and Buck Peak as we follow the Buck Creek drainage.  About 36 miles for the loop, depending on optional side trips up Flower Dome, Helmet Butte and others. Weather and time permitting, we'll wander over to Image Lake, famous for its reflective image of Glacier Peak - this side trip adds several miles to the overall trip mileage, for a total of about 45 miles. We will need a car-shuttle, for the distance of approximately 3 miles between our starting TH at Phelps Creek, and our end point at Trinity TH.

About 5000+ feet gain over 4 days.  This is bear country: Bear-proof canisters are mandatory on this trip. Bear-proof canisters can be borrowed for a small fee from the some Ranger Stations,  or rented from REI
