Although open to all club members over age 18, this trip is also part of the B3 Backpacking Building Blocks series and eligible for B3 course credit. In addition, this backpack will have a practical instructional/learning focus and offer experience in proper gear use and camp set-up techniques.

We will be starting at the Snowgrass Flat trailhead but taking the Bypass Trail to Cispus Basin where we will camp after 7.2 miles and 1950’ of gain.  Optional dayhikes beyond this point are possible if the group chooses.

The Goat Rocks Wilderness area is a highly sought-after destination and tends to be quite popular.  Though we will be taking a less popular route, there is still a good potential for company on our route.  Therefore it should be noted that we may have a good bit of competition for campsites, though there are several available.  Some highlights of this, aside from the expansive wildflower meadows, are a good possibility of seeing goats and the alpine views.  A possible downside is the population of mosquitoes.  We will hike at a slow-moderate pace.  Detailed trip information will be sent out via email and most communication regarding the trip will be done through email.  Please sign up only if you are seriously interested in the trip and can make a commitment as space is limited.
