Staying in Walput Lake campground  night of August 8, already reserved. Further details to follow.

Day 0: Car camp at Walput Lake CG lot 21. Cost per person 8 dollars.

Day 1: 8 miles and 2500 feet elevation to camp in Cispus Basin. Start from Walput Lake south of Packwood, and hike 3.5 mi (Nannie Ridge Trail No. 98) to junction with PCT near Sheep Lake.  Heading north 4-5 mi on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), over Cispus pass to the broad flower-strewn bowl of Cispus Basin (6,200 ft) and camps with broad southward views. Or continue further to camp out near Old Snowy.

Side trip to Old Snowy Mountain, elevation 7900 feet in evening or next morning.

Day 2:  Hike back to Walput Lake TH

  • Tent with footprint/ground tarp
  • Stove and fuel
  • Sleeping bag

  • Bear canister or extra stuff sack and cord designated for hanging food
  • Cooking pot/pan with plate and utensils
  • Toilet paper and shovel or blue bag to deal with waste
