Snake River Canyon Bench “High” Trail (M) (USFS – Hells Canyon National Recreation Area) 63 mi., 10,500’ gain. Enjoy varied scenery of the deepest canyon in North America during prime wildflower season on a trail running between the river bed and the ridge summit. It features views across the canyon to the peaks in Idaho, as well as into the depths below, the canyon walls above, and the meadows at your feet. Six or seven days of hiking, with a day of travel on each end, walking north from Freezeout trailhead to Dug Bar on the river. See Doug Lorain's Backpacking Oregon for details.
