Backpack - Sloan Creek to Glacier Peak Meadows

Glacier Peak Meadows is one of the most spectacular valley I ever seen. Great views of Rainier, Glacier Peak and the cascades.

  • Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 20.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,600 ft
  • Pace: about 2mph

Meeting at the trailhead at 9am. Carpooling is encouraged of course and we can organize when participants are confirmed. I have a Jeep Wrangler and I can definitely pick up people on the Eastside.

Directions to the trailhead:

On the Mountain Loop Highway, drive 16 miles south of Darrington or 26.2 miles east of Verlot to Forest Road 49. Turn east and proceed 6.4 miles to a sign for North Fork Sauk parking lot.

Day 1: plan is to hike up the beautiful North Fork Sauk River to the old cabin. From there there is a rapid and hard ascent to the PCT. There is a water source at the end of the ascent, but I strongly recommend to carry at least 2 liters.

When we arrive to the PCT we turn East and camp at White Pass.

Day 2 we trace our route back and continuing on the PCT we arrive at Red Pass to then descend in the Glacier Peak Meadows valley where we set up camp and explore the area.

Day 3 we hike back to the trailhead.
