1:00 PM at Shi Shi Beach trailhead
Come see the beautiful coast and participate in the Olympic National Park beach clean up! The coast is gorgeous at this time of year, and the weather will include rain, the bluest of blue skies and, with luck, a beautiful sunset or two. The beach clean-up is to remove plastic bottles, fishing floats and net fragments, and other man-made items that have been washed ashore by winter storms. You don't have to help with this activity, but the rest of us will spend some time doing this. Everything we pick up we have to carry to the trailhead at the end of our stay. This is part of the Washington CoastSavers activity, but don't sign up through CoastSavers to go on this trip. The itinerary it to catch the 7:10am Edmonds Ferry on Saturday morning; meet at the Natioinal Park Service in Port Angeles at 9:30am to pick up permits, bear canisters, and heavy-duty plastic bags; and to have lunch at Cape Flattery in Neah Bay. I hope to be on the trail by 2pm and on the beach at 3pm.
