The trail is beautiful but steep. Many open, sweeping views. The TH is on the northside of Snoqualmie Pass and follows the PCT over the famous Kendall Catwalk. Participants must be capable of ascending 3500' in 6.5 miles. There are particular issues with a fall backpack trip--darkness, cold and precipatation. It will be dark between 7-7:30 PM, with about 11 hours of total night-time darkness. Quite possible to be below freezing at night and 30s or 40s in the day. If snow is on the ground the Kendall Catwalk section may be unsafe for travel. This trip is weather and trail condition dependent. I will lead an optional Sunday morning 2-3 mile RT jaunt further on the PCT to Alaska Mountain and views down to Joe Lake. Leader's permission is required to ensure all participants are aware of and prepared for the above special issues.
