6:30 AM at Seattle
A leisurely walk north on the coast mid-week to have some beautiful scenery all to ourselves! The tides, daylight hours, and rainfall will strongly influence this trip, causing us to hike mostly in the afternoon, and possibly take a rain day to wait out a storm (bring a book). Saturday, an early start out of Seattle to drive to Shi-Shi Beach and leave half of the cars, and then drive to Rialto Beach by late afternoon to camp. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday will be spent walking up the coast, ending up at Sand Point or Cape Alava. Wednesday we will relax most of the day, and cross the hip-high Ozette River at low tide in the late afternoon, camping at Duc Point. Thursday move on to Shi-Shi Beach. Friday a short hike out to the Shi-Shi car(s), and then recover the car(s) at Rialto Beach, for a late return to Seattle. Excessive rainy days may cause us to not cross the Ozette. The total camping permit, ferry, and gasoline fees will exceed $60. Please let me know about your backpacking experience when you inquire about the trip.
