This is my mentored backpack trip so I can become an independent backpack leader. Frank McCracken, who is wonderful, will join us as my mentor for this trip. This is meant to be a "very chill" fall trip to just be outdoors and enjoy some fall colors.
PLAN FOR THE TRIP IN GENERAL. Saturday 10/3: Will likely get on the trail by 10:30am or so, then hike 4.5 miles to the lake, look for camping spots preferably with a fire pit so we can enjoy a fire at night if the current burn ban is lifted. We will pitch tents and eat lunch in no particular order. Based upon weather, we will do an optional additional short hike for fun after lunch mostly to just enjoy the forest all around us. We will also have time to swim in the lake if anyone is interested but for safety you must bring water shoes (I hope to do this!). Dinner as a group will around 6 or 6:30pm so that we can eat, socialize, and just enjoy swapping stories! Then a fire if able and going to sleep. Sunday 10/4: wake up, eat breakfast, pack up, camp out. Expect to be back to trailhead around 12 noon or so. Then a nice early drive home.
FOOD/WATER NEEDED: Trail snacks, one lunch, one dinner, one breakfast. 2L water recommended to start with but the rest can come from the lake by using a water filter device.
