Meet at  9am on Saturday at the North Bend Park and Ride lot at 331 W North Bend Way, North Bend, WA 98045, reached by taking Exit 27 from I-90 East, then driving 3.4 miles on SE North Bend Way to the intersection of  W North Bend Way and Sydney Ave.  For public restrooms, stop at Tollgate Farm Park which will be on the left side of SE North Bend Way 0.8 miles before reaching the North Bend Park & Ride.   Link to the North Bend Park & Ride location on Google maps: https://goo.gl/maps/EuWVDXrSKTp

From our meetup point, we’ll consolidate cars and caravan the rest of the way (about 1 hour, 30 minutes) to Cooper Lake, where the trailhead to Pete Lake is located.  Drivers will need to display a NW Forest Pass.  Vault toilets are available at the trailhead.  Drivers should note that the last 6 or so miles of forest road to the trailhead is rough and bumpy, but I've been able to navigate this in the past in my Honda Civic!

*There is also the option of car camping at Cooper Lake the night before if participants are interested

This will be a short, beginner-friendly backpacking trip to a pretty alpine lake with the possibility of swimming if the water is warm enough and/or if we are feeling daring!  On Saturday morning, we'll hike in 5 miles w/ just 400 ft of elevation gain to Pete Lake, locate a campsite, set up camp, and enjoy the lake.  Later in the afternoon, we'll take a leisurely hike (about 2.5 miles each way) along the Lemah Meadow trail and then north along the PCT to dramatic views of Chimney Rock and Lemah Meadow.  On Sunday morning, we'll hike out after a leisurely breakfast (and perhaps a swim?).

This is a dog-friendly hike - a maximum of 3 dogs will be allowed, and they must remain leashed and be well-behaved.  Please email the leader for permission to bring your pup.

Gnats and mosquitoes could be an issue - a mosquito head net is HIGHLY recommended, along with some good bug spray and a long-sleeved shirt and pants for downtime at camp.
