  • Priority will be given to people that *NORMALLY PREFER* hiking a slow pace (less than 2mph)
  • Be prepared to answer questions about your experience, preferences and abilities in order to gain permission to join the trip.
  • PLAN FOR FRIDAY (CAMPING):
Since the TH is a long drive, I plan to camp Friday night at Sol Duc Campground, which is 2.5 hrs from the TH, if anyone wants to join (if someone else has the ability to get out to the pennisula early in the day to save us a spot at Bogachiel or somewhere closer, I'd be happy to camp somewhere else)
  • PLAN FOR SATURDAY:
Meet at the trailhead at 10am, set out to hike no later than 10:30am, hike the Sand Point trail to Sand Point, hike north to Wedding Rocks, camp @ Wedding Rocks (4.5 miles total)
  • PLAN FOR SUNDAY:
Break camp by 8am, hike north to Cape Alava, hang out around Cape Alava, be back to the cars by noon
  • Permits
Everyone will need to pay the trip leader $9 for the overnight permit. Please plan to pay via Venmo within 2 weeks of registering.
  • Cancellation
Plan for rain and a chilly, humid marine layer—don’t be fooled by a sunny inland forecast. The trip will only be called off for storm surges, atmospheric rivers, or continuous rain on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Bear cans and water *filters* are required. Water treatment is strongly discouraged.
  • We will hike at a slow pace, taking frequent breaks - photography is encouraged. To keep the group together we may opt to have the slowest hiker lead.
  • We will stop for an extended lunch (~20 minutes) or when we get to camp (whichever comes first/as required).
  • ** NOTE ** This trip is *NOT* recommended if:
    - you get bored easily - this is a *VERY* chill trip, we won't have a lot of activities, we will be sitting on the beach for fun
    - you prefer to read in your tent the rest of the day once you get in camp (this trip is meant for those that like to be social)
    - you like to keep to yourself on a hike and would prefer not to talk to others
    - you are awake earlier than 5am and get bored waiting for other folks to wake up
    - you don't like, or have problems with, hiking at a slower pace
