7:00 AM at Mowich Lake
Two day overnight tromp around the Northern loop within Mount Rainier NP. This will be minimum 40.3 miles and 13.8k ft of elevation gain. 8-10 hour hiking days.
Route: Recommend camping\car camping at Mowich lake Friday night
Day 1: Mowich lake down ipsut pass over carbon river passed carbon glacier by mystic lake camping at Berkley park @ 6300ft(18 miles)
Day 2: Berkley park by Affi falls & van horn falls & James lake through windy gap beneath Yellowstone cliffs over carbon river back up ipsut pass to Mowich lake (23 miles).
Cost: split of $20 reservation fee. Entrance into NP $15 per car -- free if you carpool with me.
No dogs allowed on trail. No Cell service at TH or on the trail. I carry SPOT and radios.
Hiking expectation are to be safe and have fun. Be on time, or the event will start without you. Stop at each Y or agreed upon trail location. Carry 10 essentials -- map/compass with optional gps. Bear spray optional. Food/scented items to be stored in bear canister or package for use on bear pole. Pack light but carry the essentials -- my pack with food & water will weigh ~22lbs at start (14 lbs pack/gear + 3 lbs food 4.5 lbs water) aim for 25lbs or less. We'll talk about pooled gear -- jetboil / tents etc.
