Backpack - Melakwa Lake

ALUMNI B3 BACKPACK Backpack 4.5 miles and 2700 ft. elevation gain to Melakwa Lake and spend the evening enjoying the lake and surrounding peaks.

  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 9.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,650 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2 mph

Day 1: Meet at trailhead at 7 and head out as soon as everyone is ready. Plan to camp at Melakwa Lake.

Day 2: Depending on group interest, we can follow the trail toward Kaleetan Peak and see how far we can get hiking but not scrambling or climbing. After returning to camp, we will pack up and head to the trailhead. Plan to have lunch/snacks for day 2 as we will plan to get back to the trailhead between 2 and 3.

My style:

I’m a laid-back hiker who loves connecting with people and the land. For me, hiking is about more than reaching a destination—it's a chance to slow down, listen, and share meaningful experiences with others. I bring a calm, caring, and understanding presence to the trail, and I value the ways outdoor adventures can build confidence, connection, and a deeper respect for the natural world.

Meet at the Trailhead at 7am.
