Icicle Creek Gorge The Icicle Creek Road was severely damaged in the spring floods of 2008, and the road remains closed just past Ida Creek Campground. This closure orphaned many popular trails in the area, because many day-hikers find the length of these hikes with the additional road walk daunting. Join me—rain or shine—for this easy backpack to the former Rock Island car campground and a day hike along Jack Creek and then up to Trout Lake. There is a bypass trail around the damaged section of road, followed by a short road hike to the Chatter Creek campground. From there we will hike the beautiful Icicle Gorge Trail to its end at Rock Island campground. The campground is situated in very pretty woods and is spacious enough for us to spread out. Come prepared to do an easy day hike after we set up camp and a moderate day hike on Sunday before we pack up. 8 miles± roundtrip with minimal elevation gain to our campsite. NW Forest Pass required at the trailhead. Map: GT Leavenworth 177 (In the event of rain, we will camp at the Chatter Creek campground, where the group camp site has a sheltered picnic area. From there we would have the opportunity to hike the Icicle Gorge Trail and/or the Chatter Creek trail.)
