Let's carpool if we can.  Please make sure your driver/rider preferences are up to date.

We will meet at 8:00 am at the Longmire Wilderness Information Center.

Address: Hwy. 706, 10 mi east of Ashford, Longmire, WA, 98397
GPS Coordinates: 46.750166, -121.811654

From there, we will carpool to the trailhead.

Join me for a backpacking trip to beautiful Lake George in Mt. Rainier National Park.

The pace will be slow and relaxed.  There will be plenty of opportunities to eat snacks and take photos along the way.  If you are a faster hiker, I ask that you please stay with the group.

The first portion of this hike is a 3.8 mile gradually ascending road hike on the decommissioned portion of the Westside Road.  The second portion of this hike ascends 0.8 miles through old-growth forest to the campground by Lake George.

After setting up camp, we have the option of hiking to Gobblers Knob- a historic fire lookout with incredible views (approximately 800 ft elevation gain, 1.6 miles).

Leader's Permission Required- This is so I can gage your experience and make sure we have enough drivers.

Goals for the trip:

1. Be Safe

2. Have Fun

3. Learn Something (Have a hiking/backpacking question? Just ask!)

My expectations for participants:

1. Stay with the group.

2. Have the required gear.  (Missing something?  Just let me know.)

3. Be kind and respectful of others.

4. Practice LTN Principles.

My style:

1. I tend to have a more casual leadership style. I enjoy getting to know participants and helping them reach their goals.

2. If I don't respond to your e-mail right away, it's because I'm out hiking/backpacking, driving my children to their various activities, or thinking of the best way to respond. I will do my best to get back to you within a day or two.

I hope to see you on the trail!
