Leave Seattle Monday morning June 15th about 9:00, return Tuesday afternoon the 16th sometime.  Carpool from Seattle to the Money Creek area near Skykomish.    Drivers will need a Northwest Forest Pass.

Up the trail, over the river and exploring we go.  A good opportunity to get out of town midweek with plenty of time to go exploring after setting up camp.  The trail follows the creek up a very pleasant and gentle walk.  We’ll hike a couple hours in, about 1.5 miles to the lake outlet and another approx. 2 miles to the lake inlet where we find a place to set up camp and enjoy the afternoon\evening.  Tuesday, we’ll enjoy a leisurely morning before returning to the trailhead.  I anticipate this being pretty early in the day, maybe back to the cars by noon.

Although open to all club members over age 18, this trip is also part of the B3 Backpacking Building Blocks series and eligible for B3 course credit. In addition, this backpack will have a practical instructional/learning focus and offer experience in proper gear use and camp set-up techniques.  . There will be fresh water available on the trail, an opportunity to try out the different purification methods.  Lightweight backpacking is encouraged. Generally, your backpack (with food and water) should weigh 35 pounds or less.

The leader will have a short trip planning meeting scheduled for June 11th, Thursday. All trip participants are expected to attend the planning meeting. Details about gear requirements and assistance with food planning and packing will be discussed at that meeting.  We will also discuss carpool details at that meeting.

The trip may be cancelled or the destination changed if weather turns poor.
