9:00 AM at Lookout Point Trailhead parking lot
This is a one-way backpack starting at Lookout Point trailhead parking lot and ending at Denny Creek trailhead parking lot.

One car will be left at Denny Creek parking lot to shuttle drivers to Lookout Point at the end of the hike to retrieve the other cars.

Saturday morning we will pass Talapus Lake, Olallie Lake and Rainbow Lake enroute to our campsite at Island Lake, involving 5.3 miles and 1600 feet gain. Saturday afternoon we will have an optional day hike to Rainbow, Blazer and Mason Lakes, involving 4 miles RT and 200 feet gain. Sunday morning we'll backpack to Lower Tuscohatchie Lake, involving 3.9 miles and 1000 feet loss, where we will have lunch, and possibly a swim. In the afternoon we will backpack to Melakwa Lake, involving 2.9 miles and 1100 feet gain, where we will camp for the night.

On the backpack out to Denny Creek on Monday, involving 2.9 miles and 2200 feet loss, we will pass a rock slippery slide enroute, where we can stop for a dip if the group is so inclined.

Although open to all club members over age 18, this trip is also part of the B3 backpacking Building Blocks series and eligible for B3 course graduation credit. In addition, this backpack will have a practical instructional/learning focus and offer experience in proper gear use and camp set-up and on-the-trail techniques.

Pre-trip assistance with gear selection, food planning, and gear sharing will be included in leader emails prior to the trip.
