9:00 AM at Talapus Lake trailhead at Lookout Point
This is a two-day backpack trip into the most beautiful area of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The 2,000 feet gain is spread evenly over the 5 mile trail in, leading eventually onto Pratt Ridge, where there is a spectacular view of Mt. Rainier in the distance and Olallie and Talapus Lakes below. We pass by at least five lakes on this trip, depending on what side trips we do. We will camp at Rainbow Lake, where numerous campsites are available, and day hike to explore Island, Blazer and Mason Lakes on Saturday afternoon.
