9:00 AM at Carbon River Ranger Station
This is an easy 5-mile hike on a closed road to the Ipsut Creek campground. The campsite is situated in a beautiful old-growth forest, and there are several day-hike opportunities open to us. This is an ideal trip for beginners, gear shake downs, or just a low-key backpacking experience. The group campsite is spacious and has luxuries such as picnic tables, bear poles for hanging food, and privies. The Carbon River area often sustains heavy damage during the winter, so be sure to check back for more details. There is limited parking at this location, so plan to carpool.
