Backpack - Hoh River

An easy 2-night, 3-day backpack trip along the Hoh River. We'll camp both nights at Five mile camp. On the second day, we'll day hike 10 miles round-trip to Olympus Guard Station and back. On day 3, we'll hike out and head home. This trip is a great opportunity for B3 students but is open to all.

  • Mileage: 18.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 500 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 mph

We'll meet at the Hoh Visitor Center at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 22.  It takes at least 4 hours to drive to the Hoh Visitor Center from downtown Seattle, not counting breaks, so you may want to stay nearby the night before. I have reserved a car camp at  Willaby Campground on Lake Quinault  for Thursday, June 21 and can take 3 hikers in my car Friday afternoon to share the campsite.

The cost for Five Mile Camp permit is $8.00 per person per night. By registering for this trip, you agree to reimburse the leader $16.00.

If you work a Monday-Friday schedule, you'll need to take Friday, June 22 off.
