Although open to all club members over age 18, this trip is also part of the B3 backpacking Building Blocks series and eligible for B3 course graduation credit. In addition, this backpack will have a practical instructional/learning focus and offer experience in proper gear use and camp set-up techniques.

This is an excellent destination for those new to backpacking, and for more experienced people with a desire to start the season off with an easier one-night trip. A picturesque alpine lake, Goat Lake is nestled between majestic Sloan Peak and the Monte Cristo group of peaks. The wide and easy trail is in excellent condition (Kudos to the trail crews) except a few wash outs (not a problem). This is a gorgeous hike through some old 2nd growth and some old growth cedar. The trail is quite flat for the first 4 miles, and then climbs gradually to Goat Lake in the last mile.

Additional logistic details will be provided in pre-trip communications.
